If your school has paid your registration fees, please click here to make your workshop selections. Your school will be added only when the the fees have been paid.  

Please be very careful when you complete the process. Type your first and last name. Each workshop runs for a day. You can choose three workshop options for each day.  We will try to give you at least one of those options per day.

iMovie- Lights, Camera, Action!
Tutors- Jim Baker & Jillian Norrie
Using video cameras and iMovie, create your own movie showing Whangarei’s
great outdoors during one of our endless summers. Add your own music and
sound effects.

Digital Photography/ iPhoto Snap, Shot, Shoot!!!
Tutor- Nigel Crawford
At the digital photography day you will...
  Learn the secrets for taking great photos
  Discover some special features of digital cameras
  Learn about composition, texture, perspective, the rule of thirds and other photographic   mumbo jumbo
  Take lots of great photos
  Set your photographs to music

             

Animation- Bendos Rule! Claymation Galore!
Tutor- Ben Soole
Using bendy “people” toys, learn how to build an animated scene based around the city centre.  Create characters with play dough and use them to make an animated movie.

Blue/ Green Screening- Letting your imagination rule......
Tutors- Beth Lamb and John Gwillum
Using the magic of blue / green screen we will be making the unreal seem believable. This work shop will be using the Channel North equipment and iMovie to create impossible pictures and small movie clips.

Simple Website Building- Wikis Rock!!
Tutor- Yaron Overeem
In this session you will make a wiki. (website)
You will first learn the basics about wiki, then you will make a short movie, digital photos slides show, animation and a few other neat things to add to the wiki.
A wiki is a type of website that you make online. Unlike normal website a wiki can be edited by anyone, anytime and anywhere.
Once you go home you will be able to show your parents and friends the wiki we have created.

Kahootz- Kahootz Capers!
Tutor- Shelley Gosse
Kahootzville is under threat from overcrowding! From the scenario that will be given to you, your team will need to use your higher order problem solving skills to identify the issues, offer some solutions and then create your own dream city using the 3d, animation programme. Kahootz. During this workshop you may also need to use Inspiration, Word or Publisher.

Podcasting- Announcing Whangarei!!!
Tutor- Mark Buckland
So many people come to Whangarei in the summer time, and there's a lot for them to see and do. But how can we tell them about it? In this workshop you'll make a podcast that tells visitors to our city (and the locals) about what they can see and do while they are here. We will make our recordings available to the world on the internet once they are finished.

Future Problem Solving/ KidPix/ iMovie/ iTunes- Here’s to the Future!
Tutors- Debbie Green & Dave Boswell
In this workshop you will be given a scenario set 60 years in the future surrounding the invasion of aliens to Whangarei where many challenges are set down for the residents. After brainstorming and using criteria to come up with a solution, you will then showcase this solution by creating a plan of action. Using Kidpix, i-Movie and i-Tunes you will create a futuristic scene focussing on Whangarei central.

Keynote Presentation Magic- All is Not as it Seems !
Tutor- Brenda Lewis
Using Keynote, Garageband, iPhoto and Quicktime, you will create amazing little presentations allowing you to show off your creative and computer savvy skills.

3D Fascination- Computer Magic !

"The Print Shop" Brochures- What a City!

In this workshop we can let our creativity run wild. We will be using an amazing application called 'The Print Shop' to create a fantastic brochure about what Whangarei City has to offer. We will utilize a number of skills including Digital Photography, visual/spatial awareness, problem solving, creativity and many many more.
